FAQs

How much Ashwagandha and Magnesium are in this bar, and is it enough to actually do something?

Each bar has 110mg of Ashwagandha Root Extract and 105mg of Magnesium Bis Glycinate. This is a gentle, daily-use dose - not a one-time clinical treatment. Think of it the way you'd think of eating spinach for iron: one serving won't fix a deficiency overnight, but eaten consistently as part of your daily routine, it steadily supports your body's stress response and helps you feel more like yourself.

When is the best time to eat this bar?

Many women find it helpful during their luteal phase (the week before their period) when stress and mood fluctuations are more pronounced. Because it contains both Ashwagandha and Magnesium - both of which support relaxation and nervous system balance - this bar works especially well in the late afternoon around 4 pm, when cortisol naturally dips and stress from the day tends to build.

I'm already taking an Ashwagandha supplement separately. Can I still eat this bar?

If your existing supplement is a standard 300–600mg capsule, adding 110mg from this bar is unlikely to be a concern for most healthy adults. But, if you're on any medication or have a specific health condition, it's always worth checking with your doctor. Think of this bar as a gentle daily source, not a replacement for a therapeutic supplement.

What does Magnesium Bis Glycinate do, and why is it better than regular magnesium?

Magnesium Bis Glycinate is magnesium bonded to glycine, an amino acid. This form is significantly better absorbed by the body than common forms like magnesium oxide, and it's much gentler on the stomach - regular magnesium supplements can cause loose stools at higher doses. Magnesium supports muscle relaxation, sleep quality, and hormonal balance - all areas where women, particularly in their 30s and 40s, tend to be deficient.

Does this bar taste like ashwagandha? I've tried ashwagandha supplements before and the taste can be off-putting.

Not at all. Ashwagandha has an earthy, slightly bitter taste on its own, but at 110mg it's a small amount, and the cocoa powder, almonds, and peanut butter completely take over. What you actually taste is a rich, nutty bar with hints of chocolate.

What makes this bar different from other nutrition bars?

Well, it’s much more than just a protein bar. It gives you 25% of your daily requirement of protein, fiber, calcium and vitamin D3. As a woman, it looks after your muscle strength, bone strength, metabolism & hormonal balance.

Is this bar vegetarian?

All flavours are vegetarian, except the Collagen bar which has a marine-sourced high-grade collagen.

When should I eat the bar?

4DU bars are perfect for a 4pm evening snack or a post-workout protein-heavy snack. Carry the minis when you travel. You can also eat a bar if you miss breakfast, although we never recommend this.

How many calories in each bar?

Most of the calories in our bars come from the high almond content – a source of good fats & dense nutrition. Depending on the flavour, the calories range from 217 to 230 per bar.

Can Men eat these?

Technically, yes, and they may find it a more rounded nutrition profile than the other brands they eat right now. But 4DU’s science-backed nutrition profile has been designed keeping women’s bodies, hormonal cycles and unique metabolic needs in mind.
